Text Message Terms
Effective October 1, 2026
1. The program
MERRIK Family Notifications are automated account notifications from MERRIK, a private, invitation-only web application, sent to members who opted in. They tell members about activity in their own account: updates to shared events, outings, polls and tasks they are part of, event start times, and reminders they set up for themselves, such as appointments. Texts only point the member back to the app and never contain medical or financial details. There is no marketing and no third-party content.
2. Who can join, and how
Only family members with a MERRIK account can join. Each person opts in themselves, signed in to their own account, by entering their mobile number in Settings → Notifications and ticking a consent box that is never pre-ticked. MERRIK then sends one text to that number, and texting starts only after that phone replies YES. Joining is optional; MERRIK works fully without it. See what the opt-in looks like.
3. How often
Message frequency varies with the notifications you choose; usually a few messages per week. MERRIK sets a daily limit for each person so that no one is ever flooded, and the family's account owner adjusts it when a situation calls for more.
4. Cost
MERRIK never charges for texts. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan.
5. Stopping
Reply STOP to any MERRIK text to cancel. You will receive one message confirming you are unsubscribed, and then no further texts. You can also switch text notifications off in Settings → Notifications. To rejoin, reply START or switch them back on.
6. Help
Reply HELP to any MERRIK text for help, or email [email protected].
7. Delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Texts may not reach you if your phone is off or out of coverage, or if your carrier does not support them.
8. Your number and privacy
Your mobile number and consent are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. See the Privacy Policy.
9. Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
